The first project
Filming at the gravel pit
When Olsson Parts calls, you know it's going to be exciting! Their roots in local farming are evident in their entrepreneurial spirit and genuine commitment.
Our initial task was to create a branding film with a focus on lighting that was relevant for the season. We clicked right from the start of the project, as it became evident that we worked together very well, and the project ahead of us was nothing short of ambitious.
What we needed to do was elevate Olsson Parts' new expression that aligns with their ongoing international expansion, all while keeping their roots (since 1957) ever-present.
Challenge accepted!
What we ended up with was a storyline where an old workhorse (Massey Ferguson 135) is followed, meeting a modern tractor, and then crossing both Tjörn and Orust islands, all with a focus on lighting.
Speaking of challenges...
e realized that the filming windows were very short. To capture the lighting, it was necessary to film right at dusk before darkness set in. Since we were in October, this allowed for a maximum of just a couple of hours before it got too dark. Moreover, we had no room for retakes; it was one attempt for each scene. In addition to the tractors, we had to schedule wheel loaders, excavators, and a gravel pit location where we could work. So, here too, we had to strategize to keep the sessions efficient.
We need a plan!
We called Kristoffer Ingelsson at RAWdjuret Media to get an extra camera on site. Now we had two of us filming – great! Along with Cecilia Littke at Olsson Parts, we timed the moments along the route where either I or Kristoffer needed to be at a specific spot to film the tractor as it passed (luckily tractors aren't that fast).
The schedule for the route from Säby Kile on Tjörn to Boxvik on Orust:
With times when we needed to be on location before the tractor (in swedish).

The result

Yes - we managed to be in the right place at the right time and capture the shots we needed. Since this was our first assignment for Olsson Parts, it naturally felt especially important for it to turn out well. The result turned out great - we had a lot of fun together, and we've done several video productions since then, which of course feels incredibly exciting!

When we were on Orust to shoot the commercial at Ottestala Schakt, we had already completed several productions together. By this point, we knew exactly what was required, how long it would take, and the expression we wanted to present.
It was autumn, and the seasonal product focus included generators and interior products, so we decided to simulate a machine stoppage where we could naturally showcase the products in their natural environment. It was meant to be cold, dirty, and generally challenging, and then - Olsson Parts to the rescue!
Gravel dust and delicate electronics are a questionable combination.
Even though this is precisely the point of the commercial, it quickly became apparent that neither the drone nor my 4-axis stabilized camera were particularly impressed by the stone dust from the crusher, which hung like a haze over the entire gravel pit. I don't know how long I spent cleaning the equipment afterward with a cotton swab!
3...2...1.. Action!
Since we know exactly what we need to do, how much time it will take, and what we'll achieve from the session, it's very straightforward for the client to budget their productions. As it's morning and sunrise, we start filming from the ground to capture the atmospheric light, then we proceed with the photo session. The final steps involve capturing drone footage and interior shots.
Done!
Time for high-fives, pats on the back, and cinnamon buns! Now all that's left is to head back to the office in Skärhamn and start editing the footage.

The result

In just 4 hours, we've filmed 3 commercials (one longer and two shorter ones) along with a photo session. The result turned out really well, and the equipment survived the stone dust! Double success!
